I just thought I would get some feedback down before I forgot:

The first term was very good; it ran smoothly and was exciting. I cant speak for anybody else but I would have found a reading list useful, not a list that we had to read everything on, but a list sent to us over the summer would have given us a chance to read up on some of the sources that the module is influenced by, and that would have given us a bit more confidence and background info. I ended up feeling like I would never catch up with all the books mentioned. A list would have made me feel grounded and that things were manageable.
The second term started off well but then turned a bit odd, especially after the Easter holiday.
The exercises in the second term didn’t gel together quite as well as the first term, perhaps they should have been geared more towards the catalogue?
The catalogue was a very important piece, worth a lot of marks, but you didn’t seem to give it the introduction it was due until one week before it was in. This was flabbergasting. You should have gone into all the details the first Tuesday we were back from Easter, so we knew what we were in for, instead we had a non compulsory tutorial session with Elizabeth, and the next week Bas Jan Ada, those were valuable but could have waited. I don’t think I talked to anybody who was clear as to what we were supposed to be doing until the week before it was in, and after that session everybody was furious, stressed and felt let down.

I think you need to encourage more discussion in the morning sessions, It often felt very one sided and it was a shame there wasn’t more dialogue between students. You should encourage people to talk, maybe by going round asking everybody to say something about the work a la Patrick Brill…

That’s about all I can think of for now; I hope it’s constructive,
