If you squint a bit, it looks a bit like Dante's Nine Circles of Hell...

I found some audio files of T.S. Eliot reading his poem 'The Wasteland'. Someone mentioned them a few weeks ago. My English teacher used to play these to the class largely because they are so striking and peculiar. Eliot manages to inject almost no emotion or life whatsoever into his own work. Makes for quite difficult listening. Interesting though.

I forget who said it, I will try and find out, but most people seem to agree that T.S. Eliot destroys his poetry in reading it.
